Is My Tyre Legal ?
It is difficult to confirm without seeing the tyre. this information should be taken as guidence only.
For cars,vans,light truck,except motorbikes and lorrys. There must be 1.6mm of tread covering not less than 75% of the center of the tyre. for a motorbike and lorry the tread must be at least 1.0mm and covering not less than 75% of the center of the tyre. The tyres in all cases must be correctly inflated and not be damaged in any way.
A number of manufactures claim that a tyre of less than 3mm will double your braking distance.
Can My Tyre Be Repaired?
The tyre must meet all the following criteria,
The tyre must have been legal and in good condition before the punture. Certain speed rated tyres can only be repaired once. The hole must be less than 6mm. The hole must be at leaset 10mm from the side (in the main tread).
